Acupuncture is a useful aid for people wanting to lose weight. The treatment will help remove any obstacles that may prevent you loosing weight, although it will not make you lose any weight without trying. Acupuncture can help you with the motivation to lose weight, and help you feel better in yourself. (If you feel good, you are more likely to achieve your goals.)
During the initial consultation, many details are gathered about your lifestyle including your diet and fluid intake, so your acupuncturist may advise some changes to help you achieve your desired weight. If appropriate, food and drink diaries may be asked for as a guide for both practitioner and patient to review and make any necessary changes. Exercise is also recommended, if you are not already doing some, but it needs to be something that suits you and that you will enjoy doing. This could be something as simple as taking a walk and it does not mean that you need to go and join the local gym.
